T/C Encore pistol owners
I have a new Encore that I purchased with the .44 magnum barrel. I really want to get the .308 Winchester for hunting, but was wondering about recoil, scope stability, and velocity differences. It would be a 14" barrel. Anyone?

While the .308 is relatively efficient (i.e. takes a shorter barrel to get to full velocity) than some other cartridges, I personally think there are better 15" Encore barrels for hunting. I picked up a 7mm-08 for mine last year but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. I think it will be a better hunting round. If you want to get some serious opinions, go over to the Encore boards at WWW.Encoreclassifieds.com.

I can't speak to the encore platform but I shot a Striker in 308 for quite some time. Ballistics and actual game performance from the 14" barrel were quite satisfactory. Never had a problem with recoil or scope movement but again the Striker is a heavier gun. I can say that if I ever buy an Encore frame the first barrel I'm looking fro is a .308.
