Meh WASR-10s are worth all of 400.00 at most.
I paid 270.00 for my saiga rifle in 7.62x39 and felt ok with that. I would not pay 600.00 for either the wasr or the saiga. |

I paid $225 for my Colt SP1, and I paid $500 or so for my Bushmaster, and $800-$1000 for my Armalites. What they cost is what they cost, inflation and all over the years, but these days, especially if everyone keeps buying into the fear and coughs it up for other reasons. As before, we just shoot ourselves in the foot there. The AK's are just as over priced as the AR's, or anything else, and for the same reasons.
If I was looking for an AK, I'd pay the $600 for the WASR over an unconverted Saiga, just because I'm looking for an AK type rifle, not one that could be one but needs work to get there. Thats why I bought my Saiga for $700 already restored to its correct form, and from someone who I trust as a builder to do it. I'm not knocking the Saigas as a project gun, but from what I've seen of the home done jobs, they usually are not correct, which means that some accessories may or may not work with them, and who knows what the quality of the compliance parts or the abilities of the builders are. Just because something might kinda look like its supposed to, doesnt mean its going to work like its supposed to. I've been burned enough with kit guns by others to know I wont do it again. |

Well, this is America. We over pay for everything, and we're proud of it!

I have been quite pleased with my Romanian GP WASR10. It shoots anything I put through it, and mag wobble isn't that bad. I bought it for $415 back in 2006, but prices have gotten much higher. I think the lowest I have seen the WAR10s go for is around $600. They aren't the prettiest rifles, but then the AK wasn't designed as a show piece. I do love how mine looks though!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I think AK's with the wood furniture are more attractive than the AR's with all the plastic. Personally I'd prefer an all natural blonde to black and plastic.

I own a WASR-10 that I bought before the election panic. It cost $369 and came with 2-30 round steel magazines. It has never suffered a FTF or a FTE in well over a thousand rounds fired. Is it accurate? It is as accurate as it was designed to be. It is not a sniper rifle it is a rifle designed to be rugged, reliable, and fast firing for peasant soldiers. In that role it serves very well.
