Dillon 550B
Been reloading lots of 38 special on the 550B. Have been running into situations where primers not being decapped during sizing. Most decap just fine , anyone have any idea what problem is. Thanks

are you racking the handle very fast and possibly not completing a full swing?
otherwise does the depriming pin on the dies appear to be irregular or perhaps not screwed down enough? |

The sizing die does need to be installed to either touching or within .002" of the shell plate with ram all the way up. The nut on the top of the die holding the deprimer pin must be all the way down.
I have had similar problems with once fired Federal Champion cases. After the first reload of those cases no more problems. You can always try a spare de-priming pin to see if it makes any difference. I even went through the trouble of de-priming those cases once before trying to reload. Once I got through that batch of brass, I find I don't seem to have nearly the problems I once did. |
