binoculars under 250

H going on a elk hunt this weekend in new mexico and need to get some optics but dont wantto spend a whole bunch. Any suggestions on some good optics under 250 i found some nikon 10-50mm for 180 at walmart. any suggestions

Sorry, I do not believe there are any good optics out there in that price range. You will need to tripple that figure to get a good glass. That's just how it is. You CAN get some 10X25 Ultravid Leica binos for around $650 on line that will let you use them ALL day long with out getting a headache! You will NEVER regreat buying them! Whats several hundred dollars more on a hunt like that? Next to nothing compaired to the total cost of the hunt.

Steiner Predator 12x40's are $299 at Sportsman's guide. Mind you they're no Zeiss', but a good low priced optic. The auto focus is nice.

I have the Nikon 10x50 Action Extreme, which is around $180. First, 10x is hard to hold steady, but that is true for any 10x. Also, the Nikon focus can be dialed in pretty close but "infinity" focus is real far and focus must be adjusted even from long distance to very long, like maybe 1/2 mile to farther. Not sure if this is true for all 10x.

I have no experience in its durability in the field; it has been carried around some with me on foot but just on walks, not banged around much.
