Ok Ok! I did not get a Hornady L N L AP! Disappointed?
Disappointed? Maybe a little but hey my brother was flipping the bill on everything so I could not look that gift horse in the mouth!
I did get a LEE 4 hole Turret press, Lyman Universal case trimmer, Lyman de-burring tool, Lyman Chamfer tool, more (4) Lee quick change bushings, Deluxe set of .223 dies, Lee Pro Powder measure, Snap Caps for my 9mm CZ, 5 plastic ammo boxes for .223 and 9mm, 1 Lbs of Varget, and 1 Lbs Benchmark and I am sure a few things I am missing? Total was close to $500 and I felt a bit guilty asking for the L N L AP as it would have cost a bunch more after accessories and Shell plates for the calibers I load it would have been close to $700 but, this setup will save me a bunch of time loading .223 and my pistol loads. You should have seen him when he said lets get it and picked up the box! He was shaking a bit and I told him don't do it and to put it back down. If he feels it would be a good idea to buy it later I will leave that up to him! I have to get a Universal Rifle powder die and the charging bar (Ordered from Midway already) as I read it will be easier to dial in. He also bought a new CZ M85 LE 9 mm for himself. It's a ambidextrous version of the CZ 75B. $538 after taxes and shipping! I told my bro to never go with me to Cabela's as it will cost him dearly! I guess he had to learn the hard way! |

I think you're going to like the Lee Turret. If you use the powder dispenser you can put out at least 200 rounds per hour, without rushing the process.
I have very little experience, all of it with the Lee Turret and I have produced rifle rounds capable of 1/2 moa accuracy at 175 yards, and I haven't even tweaked the load yet. Anyway, it's an excellent product in my opinion. Just so you know, you'll be spending a lot more money. There will be things, probably 25 or 30 things, that you realize 4 or 5 at a time, that you still need. So, you'll place an order with MidWay and then 2 weeks later you'll go "Ahm crap, I still need...." and do it again. One time, I had an order that hadn't even been delivered yet and I was placing another one.

Won't be too long before you figure out you need some bullets to put over the powder and some primers to light it. You may want a pistol powder of some kind? I like the inexpensive Lee universal decapping die so I can knock all my primers out before I clean the cases. Got a tumbler yet? No need to spend a lot there. Again, you buy speed and convenience with more money. And maybe longevity.
I think you'll find the turret lets you learn what's going on better, since you can look into the case as you work the ram for each operation. The difference here will be about volume per hour, and that's only truly important when you have more money than time available. There are times when it pays, but they are fewer and farther inbetween than I tell myself when I am actually shelling out money for a progressive.

Yes I already have a single stage press setup and I have been reloading on and off for more then 20 years.
I have 8+ pounds of pistol powder and a number of different projectiles for then pistols. I did buy some small rifle primers and 200 55g FMJ for .223 as well as some 155g HP for the .40. I have 1k of 115g JHP coming from Rocky Mountain Reloading next week for my 9 mm. Oh and yes I also have a tumbler to clean all of my thousands of cases! I am out in the "Man Cave" messing around with it now. Just stopped in the house for some cool air and a drink! |

I just finished loading up 100 in .40 and it worked perfect! I love the turret press but, I am pretty sure I will still save up for a L N L AP some day!
I used the .61 disk and with Power Pistol it averaged around 6.6g which was just right for a target load. 6.6g Power Pistol, Federal primers, Star-Line brass and 155g XTP JHP's 1.126 OAL. I cut my reloading time down about half that of my single stage Lee pess and being the first time using it I went super slow. Thumbs up for the 4 hole Turret press and the Lee Pro Auto-Disk powder measure! |

Glad you like the press, I can crank out 100 rounds of good quality 223 at a rate of better than one a minute and I don't have a powder dispenser. I use the Lee Dipper Cups.

well if you had got to use a LnL you more than likely would be dissapointed. You have REALLY missed out on a superb machine. I cant express how great these Hornady machines really are. I guess it goes without saying " you dont know what you're missing". After owning mine , I wont own anything else!

I love my LNL AP press, but, quite honestly, just about any of today's well-known manufacturers produce a very high quality press and stand behind their work. I'd be quite confident that your new Lee press will do an excellent job producing excelent reloads for you once you familiarize yourself with it.

I own a 3 hole turret, pro 1000 and a Load Master. One day I will get a Dillon or Hornady The Lee presses will still be used for various purposes. I have produced a lot of decent ammunition. I wish someone would make an improved primer feed system for the Load Master.
