Winchester makes a yearly run of their older, near obsolete brass. Keep an eye on Midway and it will show up sooner or later. In the meantime I would just go ahead and buy a few boxes of factory ammo that you can shoot up and then use the cases for your own reloads.

Remington is reported to have just finished their seasonal run of .30-40 Krag and .303 British (which you can form Krag brass from, but has a thinner web).
However, no distributors or retailers have gotten any shipments yet.

A couple months ago, I called more than 65 gun stores and internet retailers to track some down.

The only place that had some in stock was: http://www.bluestarbrass.com/

He had "about 100", but said he'd have to count it; and didn't want to count it until it was paid for. (Not really the best approach to a potential customer, but the guy I talked to was friendly and nice, otherwise.)

Only "us old guys" ever shot a lot of game with .30-40 Krag ....so we know what it is when we see it .....but we forget quickly where we saw it ...( or at least that's my only explanation ..)....

My days of big game hunting are over / and I sold the last model 95 Win I had in .30-40 Krag to a collector that had to have another lever action carbine ... and I threw in 2 partial boxes of factory ammo ( one box of silver tips / one core lokt Rem ...) and he was as excited to get the ammo as he was the rifle .... but I used to reload it as well...

It was a very effective "brush gun" on deer and black bear in the rockies ...for many years. Have fun with yours - and I hope you find a lot of brass at the next show...

pistolandpawn and a2zoutdoors don't have any in stock. Don't bother calling or trying to order (unless you are willing to get put on a backorder list, but I would use different merchants).

As was said, it's still made but only once a year and in limited quantities. A couple of years ago I set up a notification with MidwayUSA to email me when it was in stock, which they did and I bought 200 (Winchester cases IIRC) As little as I shoot that rifle these days, with those plus the couple hundred empties from factory ammo I've saved over the years I should be in good shape for life.
