22lr / 1911 Conversion
Is there a 22lr conversion made for 1911 frames with a frame mounted feed ramp?

All the 1911 conversions I know of have a feed ramp built into the .22 barrel that completely bypasses the pistol's built-in feed ramp. M1911. ORG recently tested a conversion and tried it on both conventional 1911s with frame feed ramps and on a para-Ordnance pistol with a ramped barrel, and it worked on both.
Here's the review. Scroll to the end for the discussion of fitting the conversion on the Para pistol: http://ezine.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=142 |

22lr / 1911 Conversion
Thanks for your reply and link to a nice article. A buddy of mine just bought a Sig 1911 Scorpion and wants to get a conversion for it. I have a Kimber unit on a old West Hurley frame and it's great. We'll try my unit on his Sig, we just never tried it because of what the instructions said.

I've had good luck with several makes of .22 lr conversions on a variety of 1911's: Ruger SR1911, Remington Rand WWll 1911A1, and four Colts. Marvel makes a good one, very accurate....Advantage Arms is good as well...Ciener's unit is as good as the above two, but must be kept pretty clean to function properly...and a Colt Conversion Unit with the old sliding chamber. Only the Advantage Arms unit will lock the slide back after the last round is fired. All have integral feed ramps tailored to their individual magazines.
Here's a cpl pics on a Ruger SR1911. Best Regards, Rod Mavel on a Ruger SR1911 Advantage Arms on Ruger's SR1911 Ciener's Commander length unit on the same Ruger
