Of which handgun would you like to see a "modern remake"
Actually I could think of a lot of legendary guns that I'd like to see in a modernized version, e.g. featuring a rail and/or poly frame etc., yet still the basic appearance of the classic gun. A new edition of the Baby Browning would be nice, me being a mousegun fan... Or, something bigger, a classic SAA revolver with some more futuristic features would be cool as well (that particular one maybe not w/ poly frame, though)

I'm not sure where you'd put the rail on a Broomhandle Mauser, but that was going to be my answer after seeing only the subject.

I dunno. How about a modern rendition, in steel and/or aluminum, of a 1910 vintage .380 Colt pocket pistol. No rail, no plastic, no forward slide serrations, decent sights. A laser if it could be integrated without changing the lines at all.

Something webley
Modern steels, cut for half moon clips and chambered in .45 ACP would tickle my fancy.
Also like to see a .44 spl steel frame 3" Bulldog. The ultralights are not my cup of tea. |

Sarsilmaz makes a new Baby Browing , EAA is their importer. Might check into that.
A poly framed Luger, in .45acp would twist things up. A .22lr Nambu just because. |

That's easy. A Walther P38 designed for modern ammo.

The P-08 Luger.
With the cost of today's guns, it would cost about the same as a decent quality 1911 pistol. Chamber it in 9mm (of course!), 7.62x25 Tokarev, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.

Well...if you are going to go top break, then why not a Webley-Fosberry auto revolver in 10mm with moon clips?

1911 clearly the better design. I would like to see more polymer framed 1911s.

Definitely the P08 Luger and the Beretta 70S.
So my contribution would be Mauser HSc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauser_HSc http://www.google.com/search?q=mause...w=1024&bih=672 http://www.weapon.ge/index.php?sel=1...n=12&cat=&l=en Last edited by SpareMag; August 20, 2013 at 03:03 PM. |

A Colt revolver would be a fantastic addition a modern Colt product line.

If they were of decent quality, the price would make your head spin. Colt's cannot return to the hand-fitting that made their revolvers so desirable, without charging prices that are best calculated in pounds-of-gold-bullion ... unless they have the work done in a 3rd-world country. On the other hand - If they tried going to investment casting and CNC production, like everyone else; that's exactly what they'd be: just another name on revolvers of average quality. Colt's revolvers are relics of days gone buy. Until the United States has a large base of skilled workers to compete for lower wage jobs, you won't see their type of craftsman-intensive operation putting out anything affordable to the average American. And that's not likely to happen in the next couple of generations, if ever again. Colt's revolvers are physical examples of a bygone era in U.S. history, just like Studebaker automobiles.

My vote would be for the broomhandle or the 1914 Mauser. Not many people know that the broomhandle is the only pistol made with no pins or screws (the only screw is the one which keeps the grips on.) Of course, it was one of the first and also one of the best.
