Recent estate auction

Just some notes about a recent auction here:

Walther P38 ac42 nice one, $375
Walther P38 byf44 also nice $490
Webley Mk. VI cut to. 45ACP $475
Enfield. 38/200 decent $265
Italian Bernardelli 1932 nice $225
French 1873 revolver $225
Steyr M1912 $250
Russian Nagant 1940 $160
Marlin 1894 with half-octagon barrel, minty, $1250
Winchester 1894, early, $1250
Several run of the mill sporting rifles and shotguns went for fair bids.

All prices include bidder premium and sales tax. Pistols all came with decent period holsters. I'm kinda crying about the Marlin, now that I think about it.

I got the P38 ac42, gave up on the 1944, and the French pistol. Absentee bid on the Marlin could have topped at $1400, or about $1700 all told.

I was also looking at a 1942 Walther at a show last weekend.
Gun was laying right side up, so I got curious.
The slide was 1942 anyways. Frame and barrel were both mis-matches.

The pair of table holders stood there smiling as I politely looked it over (rather than just dropping it).

Kept a straight face as I handed it back with no comment other than a thank you. No need to burn bridges, it's just business.

Ok, here is the auction table, from lower left, boustrophedonically (sorry) :

Russian Nagant 1940 with leather holster, not a refinished import.
Walther ac42 with 1944 holster, maybe a repro, I bought this one
Walther byf44 with Wermacht holster, stopped bidding on this one
Italian 1932 revolver in British Tanker holster
Enfield .37/200, I tried to put in with the Tanker holster
French 1873 revolver, good shape, didn't win this one
Steyr M1912, holster disappeared during the day
Webley Mk. VI cut to .45acp in British web holster
Little junker revolver, went for about $100
The rifle barrel at top is the Marlin 1894, a beauty, sorry no picture of that.

The Walther ac42 looks reblued to me, but I wanted a shooter and price was right.

Is that holster you got marked?

Looks like it is post war German issue to me. Used with the wide variety of handguns issued to them after the war.

Very similar to the War 2 P.38 police holster (rare) with the retaining strap coming up to fasten as opposed to the Army issue - strap down to fasten.

Last auction I attended? A .45 Hi-Point was the nicest gun there.

It's marked 1944, but you're probably right, it's newer. Lots of repros out there. The byf44 had a genuine holster, you can see it's different. It's strap up I think.

I would have expected the Steyr to go for a bit more. Is it in 9mm steyr or 9mm luger?

Although I can't be sure from the photo, the little gun you describe as "Little junker revolver, went for about $100." looks an awful lot like a Smith & Wesson "Second issue."

The Steyr had a WWII Waffenampt added, so probably 9mm Luger.

Didn't they mark the Steyr Hahn in 9mm P with "08" to indicate which ammo to use?

Don't recall seeing '08' stamp, could have been there.
