What's this?
Sorry, no pics available.
I was sorting through some .38 SP brass and came across some odd stuff: Same rim and diameter as a .32 Auto, same OAL as a .357 magnum, and a Chinese headstamp. Any idea what this stuff is?

Probably a .30 M1 carbine case.
What exactly is the head stamp?

The rim has a couple Chinese ideograms on it and says "B1" at the bottom. It's a straight-wall cartridge (no shoulder) that's equal in length to a .357 magnum and same diameter as a .32 auto. The rim is an auto rim. The primer looks like a small pistol.
.30 M1? I'll have to google it; when I think of M1 I think of a 30-06, and this definitely isn't one of those.

During World War II the military had MULTIPLE M1s, on lots of different equipment.
The M 1 Garand Rifle is what you're thinking of. The M 1 Carbine is a completely different critter and that is most likely what this case is.

There there was that M1 Abrams... also made of metal, but not easily confused with the carbine or the Garand!

The M1 Abrams wasn't in World War II.
Creighton Abrams, however, was in World War II.
