Welcome pigeon shooter,
Probably the most popular shotgun for most people would be a Remington 870 pump. I have 2 in 20 and 28 gauge. My favorite is my Beretta 682 Supersport with all gauge tubes in it. (an O/U) But I enjoy shooting my Rem 1100 autos also, but don't like to pick up the shells when I'm done. As far as other English shooters posting, I don't know about here, but I remember seeing a couple over on The High Road.

I get the distinct impression as said most folks use Pump guns- and 870's rule the roost....
I got the impression ALL autos had been banned in the UK? Is that right?

TheHighRoad.org is the step-daughter site of this forum.
Welcome to both. In the exciting world of clay shooting, from trap(Known as Down the Line in the UK) to Skeet to Sporting, the most popular autos are the Remington 1100, the Beretta 390/391, with the Remington 11-87 coming in a distant third. Others seen include the old Browning A-5, the new Gold, and its Winchester sibling X2. The older X1 is also around, but not considered a current favorite, unfortunately. O/Us see the Berettas and Brownings vying to dominate, both are excellent choices. New kids on the block include Guerneris,Winchesters, etc. The single most popular shotgun ever made is the 870. Pumpguns are not the first choice of many clay shooters. However, some of us use them anyway. |

I use my 870 for Skeet. Its a fabulous gun, and just goes and goes goes and goes. IT is quite helpful for night shooting practice as well- I once blasted 4 rabbits in about 3 seconds....with witnesses!
