Best reactive targets people have tried?
I don't tend to go to ranges, just open ground/private public, i shoot a variety of guns/calibres etc.
So with that in mind (i also shoot clays and just got an auto launcher) i was wanting to get some reactive targets for the other guns, hopefully fairly cheap, but, what have people tried and had good fun with? I'm going to add to this that i mainly shoot, 9mm, .22, 5.56 and maybe .270win. The problem i've found with the ones i've found, is they don't really work for things larger than .22 or .38 Thanks. Clay pigeons. They're cheap and the perfect size!
I use em for all my rifles and pistols. Generic brand coke cans work good too. They just cost a bit more. Ike |

That's a neat idea, sucks none of my shooting places have anything to suspend it
I tried to see what other targets that place does, but it looks like their site is down for a while. |

Ice. You can make blocks of ice using a mold of your choosing, plus it's free (more or less)

That expanding foam in a can that you put around window units, watermelons, cider blocks, and everyone should shoot an old toilet with a 3" magnum slug at least once in their lifetime.

I pick up old bowling pins for free from the local alleys when they're too beat-up for them to use any longer.
They're vaguely man-shaped, reactive and reusable (they can take a lot of hits before eventually being destroyed). Tomac

Wow, i wonder if they're given out free round here, i think i need to go speak with some people.
I quite fancy one of those duelling tree's i've seen on Hickok45's channel, though it looks to be about $350 for a 'normal' one from Salute Products http://www.saluteproducts.com/specia...ling-tree.html |

The worst were all those America Online cd's that came in the mail. (remember those?) Nobody believed that I was shooting through the center hole.

what we do is we go to the party store and bye a bag of balloons then when you're out there if you get two different colors (lets say a red and a green) you tie the two on a bush and as the wind blows they wiggle, and you make the red one as a terrorist and the green as a hostage and see of you can pop the red without popping the green. if you get bored then start a timer its cheap and it it is reasonably fun.

My best reactive target's are large pine cones, thrown up against the dirt backstop. Shoot at the bottom edge of the pine cone --- and they fly as much as 10 feet in the air --- trick is... shoot them while they are still aerial; or rolling down the backstop.
I also like balloons, spinner target's, and live houseflies and yellow jackets crawling on white target paper --- the reactive part --- is the bug splatter on the target paper.

Lots of small holes drilled in 2x4's will hold a bunch of lolipops. They are fun to shoot at and cheap. I tried some of those small swinging targets that are supposed to handle up to 44 mag. but 9mm's bent them all out of shape in no time.

The World of Targets steel swinging targets from Birchwood Casey seem to hold up well.
At least for .45s and .44s, and they don't cost all that much, either. Different shaped targets made of thick wood, and hung from a support, do pretty well, too. Plastic bottles, filled with brightly colored water (food coloring) are always a standby.

Shooting one gallon milk jugs filled with water using the .44 mag @ 50 yds. and ,444 Marlin @ 100 yds. provides alot of laughs and big splashes.

These are pretty fun, and they take a lot of abuse.
