Recoil Spring Replacement Schedule for a Sig 228
I recently purchased a Sig 228 and since my only other handgun is a 1911, I was wondering how often I should replace the recoil Spring in my 228. I typically replace the recoil spring in my 1911 after about 2000 rounds. Thank in advance.

AA,you can't go wrong with replaceing them when you think you need to, We replace all springs in our 228's and 229's every year or when the Officer logs 1500 rounds,we have one 228 on hand that has not had any thing replaced so far and it has log over 10,000 rounds.

SIG Arms recommends a full inspection, replacement of springs and replacement of the roll pin at 5,000 rounds. YMMV on the recoil spring depending on the type of ammo you use.
BTW did you get a German made/US assembled P228? You'll find great info here http://home.t-online.de/home/cswimm/sig/sigfaq.htm

I replace all of the springs in my SIG Sauer 9mm pistols every 5000 rounds. I used to change them every 3000 until a factory rep told me about the 5000 round recommendation.
