just curious about my Glock 26

I have said I avoided Glocks always but now have one, a 26 which is certainly small especially for a big guy like me. Do you get the 12 shot magazine? Do you extend the clips? Never had a Glock and now what is called a "subcompact" maybe yes, maybe no...

I tried the Pierce +2 extensions on a couple of my 26 mags. Took them off pretty much right away. They pinched my hand while inserting them and shooting, and they were more like a +1 than a +2, as I could only ever get 11 into the mag.

I shoot mine well enough without them, the gun hides that much better without them, and if I want extra rounds in the mag, I just pop a 17 or 18 mag in the gun.

I like mine with the +0 extended mags, both Pearce and Scherer.

That is interesting about causing trouble with your hands. I just assumed the results were going to be good, but that is the way this business is. It is small in the grip at least but actually pretty bulky for a hideout gun.

Its really not a hideout gun. Its more of a "big" small gun.

I carry mine in either a IWB holster on my belt, or a Galco Executive shoulder holster.

The 26 isnt really bad to shoot with its stock mag, but I have to curl my pinky under the mag for a comfortable grip, which was disconcerting at first. It is much more comfortable to shoot with the 17 or 18 mags in the gun, and the results on target are usually better.

It does look kind of silly with the 18 mag in it though.

I carry a G26 every day. I carry the stock 10-round magazine in it IWB, with a 12-round mag in my pocket. I can't begin to explain why, but at the range I actually shoot better with the 10-round mag and my pinky curled under the bottom. My daughter likes the 12-round mags best. Nothing wrong with trying it both ways and seeing what works best for you. Concealment is better with the short mag, though.

Why do people.....

buy subcompact or compact pistols and then go on a frenzy to buy every accessory to enlarge their subcompact or compact to the size of a standard version...or worse yet, an enhanced extended mag, shoulder stocked, laser sighted, forend gripped, rear view mirrored, power steering model?

Just curious....see this all the time. Actually, the best one I have seen was a guy with a G-26 and a 30 round mag hanging out of it!

I agree, it really doesnt make much sense.

I'll admit though, it might look silly, but those 33 rounders sure do make it easy to shoot with, and you dont have to stop to reload.

I own a "baby" Glock framed pistol chambered in .45 GAP. It has the same dimensions as the G26 (slide is a touch thicker, but hard to tell even side by side) and I thought I'd toss my 2 cents in.

1. I like the Pearce Grip pinky extension. It only makes the gun more comfortable to shoot IMO. It never pinches my fingers either. With extension:

The 9mm G26 might be easy enough to shoot with a dangling pinky, but the .45 GAP adds a touch more punch when firing it, so I prefer using the extension.

Actually the subcompact G26/27/29/33/39 will still be smaller than it's other counterparts because the slide and barrel are shorter. Yes adding the pinky rest adds some grip length/height but it's still not as bulky as the standard or even compact framed models. I like to think of the subcompact as the "convert-able" Glock. If I want deeper concealment I pop in the standard flush magazine.

...then again if I want deepest concealment I don't even carry my Block...er Glock as the Kahr PM9/PM40 conceal much more easily and with much greater comfort.

I have a G27. Can't see why your would not like the 0 extensions form pearce. I hate having my pinky hanging out under the mag.
I have the pearce on my small mags but actually like the 15 round mags with the spacer attached. The length is just right for my hand.

I suppose some of this has to do with what guns you have. I have 26's, but they are a back up gun to my 17's, which is what I normally carry. If I feel the need for something smaller, I want it "smaller", and adding the extra length really makes no sense. Not that the 26 is really a small gun though.

What I really dont get though, is deliberately making the 26 the size of the bigger guns, by using the larger mags as the main mag. If you have to add all the add on's to make it easier to shoot, why not just buy the bigger gun in the first place? The 17 is a lot easier to shoot well with, and really isnt all that much bigger, especially when carried in an IWB type holster.
