Mosberg 500a Recoil Spring Replacement

I have a Mosberg 500a that kicks like a Mule . I have replaced the Recoil pad with not luck. When I shoot a 3" Mag Sabot it about takes me from my target due to the recoil.

I was thinking about replacing the Recoil Spring. Would this lessen the recoil this Shotgun is producing?

Would enjoy any suggestions on this subject.

Thanks in advance.

Jack

Shooting slugs from a lightweight pump gun? Recoil happens.

A "PAST" brand shoulder pad might help.

But, if the recoil is throwing the bullet off target, it's probably not the recoil, it's the flinch when you anticipate the recoil. Try having a buddy load the gun, mixing slug rounds wth empties in the magazine tube, see if you jerk the gun as the hammer falls on an empty case. Try to ignore the recoil. Remember, when you pull the trigger, it'll hurt the deer way more than it'll hurt you.

Recoil spring? what's that? Looking at my Mossberg 500, I don't see anything I'd call a recoil spring. Does the "A" have a shock-absorbing stock?

Regards.

mule kicker recoil reducer

Have a mule kicker recoil reducer fitted in the stock. It will help when combined with a good recoil pad like the Simms pad. Other than that, try to have someone check the stock see if it fits you. If it doesn't, this will add to the effect of recoil. You may need some adjustments made to the make your face lay where it needs to.

Errrrrrr....

There is no "recoil" spring on a pump gun. And yes, 3" magnum loads will give you a thumpin'...See above posts for solutions.

Sleeping Dog is probably at least 99% correct. The recoil probably isn't what's throwing you off target.

I've shot a lot of magnum slugs from my 500 with the stock recoil pad. Press the gun into your shoulder pocket HARD. It helps. If you're closing your eyes when you squeeze the trigger (as I once was), you're flinching too!

get a nice carrhart jacket and add a sweat shirt will help in lowering the felt recoil.
