Okay did something I never thought I would

I have owned a few, never fired one or liked one for that matter but just got a Glock Model 19 and it does look nice. It is the generation 4 and if I can figure out how to do it may change the backstrap. So, after living a "Hate Glock" life, here I am. Can I get welcomed...

Me too just got a 19C after hating Glocks forever. Polished up the trigger and changed the striker spring and connector. That thing is a shooter.

I have the G17 and changed the backstrap. I am assuming the G19 is similar. It is not hard at all. Push out a pin and remove the old backstrap and install the new one.

I have large hands and the smallish frame did not fit me well. The large backstrap is very similar to the stock G21 and works just fine for me.

The package containing the additional backstraps has the instructions for doing it. Be aware the tight fit of the parts may make it difficult to install the pin.

Persevere. . .it will work.

glock fanboy here. glock really screwed the pooch with their backstrap setup. they have different sizes but they are all the same shape and the shape is what most people dislike.

G19

I tried 3 different glocks, G22, G19, and G26. I kept wanting to like the glocks. While I ended up with a Walther P99, the G19 was the only one that really spoke to me. I was surprised how much I liked it when I didn't like the others much at all. May still get one one day.

Welcome. Let us know how your first range trip goes.

I couldn't be happier with my Gen3 G23 and G27.

I never liked Glocks. Held a number of them over the years, G17 . . .22 . . .35 . . .107 . . . never could tell one from the other, but didn't like any of them. I never liked the way they felt in my hand, so I never bothered to go shoot one. Then, about 2-3 weeks ago, a friend loaned me this scruffy, beat-up, holster-worn G19 while my pistol is out getting some work done. I've had way more opportunities to handle this one than I did any of the others, and I've even carried it a few times. I almost hate to admit it, but I kind of like the G19. I'm going to have to take it to the range before I give it back.

I was never really interested in Glocks, but once I realized how simple the gun is in function and operation, it dawned on me it would be a great carry and IDPA tool. The 21SF sealed the deal, with it's shorter LOP.

I vaguely remember reading there were some problems with the Gen 4 Glocks. I can't even remember what they were. Have they been corrected? I have always respected the Glock even if I don't like the way they feel.

I have always hated Glocks, so I bought one! Got the 26 with Pearce ext. It is a shooter & my truck gun. The 19 did not fit my big hands. The finger grooves were all in the wrong places. Glocks are almost indestructable & very reliable. Congrats on your Glock!

I was out with a couple shooting buddies one day, and one had 4 new guns to try out. He took a brand new G19 and a full mag, turned to me and said "here, pop the cherry on this Glock". The first few rounds went into a nickle-sized group at about 15yds. I was really impressed. Nice gun. I don't own any Glocks, but had a G22 and always did well with it. They're very unassuming guns. Even though I don't currently own one, I've always shot them very well and always held them in high regard.

A friend for years swore Glocks were garbage, the only pistol worth owning was a 1911 design.Seen him 3 months ago and he was trolling for a M20 10mm.I asked what happened and he said he had shot his brother in laws.
I hate Glocks,the grip is un-natural,the trigger pull sucks,and its just not American, not to have a hammer.I have a M21,M22,and a M19,unfortunately they always go off,and they're accurate.

I hated them for a while. Didnt like the way they looked. The first time I put my hands on one I bought it. A G17. I hardly ever look at my M&P .45 anymore. It just sits on the night satnd waitin for someone to walk in. Now, I have grown very attached to this thing they call a plastic pistol and soo many hate. Its the best lookin gun I own. Never had a problem with it, feed it all kinds of ammo and no jams through over 1000 rounds so far and countin.
Its a pistol that will stay in my collection as long as im collecting. Gonna b a while

They are ugly, but they do run. I have two, my son has two and my daughter has two.

Not a big Glock fan, but they are really nice and light, I also shoot them really well. What else do you need. And they are reliable.

Congratulations. I've owned four (G21/G22/G37/G39) in a little under a decade, and can count the number of malfunctions from all of them in two hands. They've all been shot a lot too. Wouldn't trust my life to any other handgun.

Welcome to the ugly club. I hope you enjoy your 19. I install the $1.98 NY-1 triggers on mine. I prefer them on Glocks that are to be used for CCW.

G17, 19 & 26.
