Removal of dovetail sight

Have Revelation/Western Auto 107 22WMR Bolt action, which is a Mossberg 640k. Wish to remove front sight.
Am I right to drive from dovetail left to right?
Can anyone give me a heighth for this sight?

Shoot and pray daily.

I would avoid driving it at all. Tools are made for just that purpose, your LGS will probably do it for nothing. If you must drive it then it moves in line with the cuts, across the barrel left to right or vise versa. If you must drive it out then use a soft punch aluminum or brass. Steel could potentially peen (expand) the metal and make it much harder to move.

Drive it out from left to right with a brass punch. Is your old one broke? you cam measure it for the correct height.
