Good choice.

Of my "top three" choices for a defensive shotgun, the Winchester hits all of the high points, especially having a better price.

In case you're curious, my Top Three shotguns have to have at least a 5 round capacity and an 18-21" barrel. I consider these three to be pretty close to even when it comes to performance;

Winchester 1300
Remington 870
Benelli Nova

The Nova has a carbon-fiber receiver and is extremely light and fast handling with a short barrel (most often seen with rifle sights). The drawback is that recoil is pretty stout. But with even a short Benelli Nova I was still doing pretty good taking out those murderous, rampaging clay pidgeons!

Good choice. I had mine for seven years and have had no problems.

Good shotgun. The only things I don't like are that in my 870 I can dump a round in the ejection port and chamber it. I haven't had such luck with the 1300. And in the 870 I can dump a round from the port without having to chamber it again not so with the 1300 as they get hung up.
