Cabela Hawken

I just bought a Cabela's Sporterized Hawken.
Found it in the bargain cave at a price I couldn't pass up. It was missong the rear sight and whatever it is that holds the ram rod in place.
The rear sight I took care of(another bargain cave special).
All I need now is the ram rod part. Looking at the schematic I can't see what this model uses to hold the rod in place. Took the barrel off and still can't figure it out.
Antbody have an idea what I need? And where I can get it?
Thanks!
Jokey

do you mean the thimbles? I just looked at my cabelas traditional and there does not appear to be a special "thingy" to hold the rod in place. It appears the tunnel it fits into just narrows slightly in the middle to hold it snug. I dont know where to get a thimble. cabelas should be able to help though. E

Nope,both thimbles are there.
Looked at a Sporterized Hawken like mine on the shelf the other day. Just behind the bottom thimble on the underbarrel rib there is a small screw holding a piece of spring steel. That steel is what was holding the rod on that rifle.
Went home home and looked at mine and nothing...not even a hole in the rib.
Might be why it was in the bargain cave to begin with.
Nice wide thick rubber band seems to be working well so far!
