256 win load data

OHey guys, does anyone have an older load book that shows the 256 with a 75 grn fp with 4227? I show it in hornadys book at 15.8 is max. I bought some ammo and its loaded at 15.8 and wanted to check the older books and see if they have dropped the loads over time. The test gun in the book was a Hawkeye single shot and I'm shooting a contender. If I can't find data then I will pull them and reload them. I have the 49 th Lyman and the 3rd nosler and neither list the cal.

Apparently when I did further research the 15.8 was probably loaded for a marlin 62 which shows a max of 15.0. Pistol shows a max of 14.5 grns. So these will get pulled and reloaded. Good point here about checking the loads to see what they were designed to shoot with. A lot of calibers cross over now.

All right, From The Hornady Handbook Of Cartridge Reloading circa 1967, We have:

The Rifle is a Model 62 Marlin, 24" 1/14 Twist.
75 grain HP.

With 4227
Starting at 12.0 gr. At 2100fps.
Max is 15.0 gr. At 2500 fps.

Thanks Tater, same as what my new one shows. I need data for pistol and all it shows is for Hawkeye. I reposted with a little more clarity.

Hodgdon shows 15 as max for pistol.

Speer Reloading Manual Number Nine has loads for 10 inch TC barrel 256 Win. Pg 263, 264. 60 & 87 grain bullets.

In the early 70's I saw a Hawkeye in a gun shop in Columbia near Five Points. Cost more than I could scrape up at that time. Later I found an original .221 Remington Fireball which I did not pass up. Fantastic pistol extremely accurate.

From Lyman's 45th Edition Reloading Handbook__1970

The Rifle: Model 62 Marlin, 24" barrel 1-14 Twist.
The bullet: 75 grain jacketed.

The powder: IMR-4227
Starting: 14.0 gr. At 2252-fps.

Max is 16.0 gr. At 2557 fps. (Compressed)

Lyman's suggested Accuracy Loading:
16.0 grs IMR-4227 (compressed)
