Finally! some range time (and pictures of new paint job)

Got out to the woods to try out the little bobcat I picked up last week.

first four shots at roughly 110 yards, 90gr charge of pyrodex behind a T/C 275gr maxi-hunter. I need to file the front sight a little.

The rifle was a plain black synthetic stock...and now, this is my first paint job so be gentle the stock is a little darker in person. (third pic has some mud on the stock)

Thank you sirs! I used krylon fusion camo paint, Two coats of Dark Tan then OD green and pebble. I also used krylon matte clear coat for the finish. The pattern is from a ceder branch I cut while out at my parents place. The elk was a picture I found online and printed, then cut out with an exacto knife.

I did this one as well for a buddy from work after I finished mine. It was a real mess. It's his first muzzle loader, he bought it used last week for next to nothing. When he brought it to me it didn't have sights, the holes for the scope mount were open and rusted. It looked liked it had been shot...a LOT, and left un-cleaned. The bolt was so corroded it wouldn't open. After a GOOD complete breakdown cleaning, polishing, mounting sights and stripping the stock of the green and tan mess that is still pictured in the checkering (it was blotched all over the gun kinda like sea sick green and tan pokadots)

it looked like this...

And a poor after shot once it was completed...

You have a good eye for the subtleties of camouflage.
Very nice work.

Thank you sir! I can safely say I picked that skill up with my slight case of OCD and relentless studying of EVERYTHING I could beg barrow and get my hands on....during my early teens when I had obsessive want to join the Marines out of high school and become a scout sniper. (which sadly never happened)

But I did obtain a decent skill for camouflaging out of it.

I've got my fingers crossed to take a nice buck with it on upcoming opening day. I think based on that grouping and the five shot group I did with it at 60yard all touching...I think it will be a nice little deer gun (much lighter and handy to lug around than my A&H 420)
