Got the 10/22 sighted in.

After my first attempt, I wasn't too satisfied. I think my lack of a good cheek weld caused the mediocre grouping of the first attempt, seen here.

This was a 1.5" group at 50 yards. I added my dad's cheek riser today (best part about having a dad that shoots, you get to use his stuff! ) and after about 20 or so rounds, got it printing very nicely at 50 yards.

Needs to be moved up maybe 1 click, but the four at the bottom are under half an inch. I know I pulled the second one (the one way high) I just sat and was like "ughhh" because it was so obvious I pulled it. But. I am happy. It is my best group with any rifle so far. Anyway, this was with Aguila Super Extra 40 grain CPRN out of my Ruger 10/22 with a Simmons 4-12 rim fire scope.
Any suggestions are appreciated and welcomed.
Thanks!
-Mo.

It can only get better

Really don't have enough information to work with but on a stock 10/22, this is a reasonable group that I would expect. Nice to know that from here, you can do things that will give better performance. .....

Does it have a Target hammer kit ?
Are you shooting from "what" rest ?
Do you have a Bull-Barrel. ?

I was using a rabbit ear/v-bag for a front rest and the bench for a rear rest. I may have done better from a more stable rest. What is a target hammer kit?

Target Hammer

If you are still OEM, you will have a trigger pull of +6Lbs. This target hammer will take you to 2 to 2.5 Lbs or even slightly less. This will give you a smoother crisp trigger pull and be more consistent. It's not saying much, but all of my 10/22's can are capable of shooting better that I can. ....

Good luck and;

So, just installing that in my original trigger group is all that's required?

Try as many brands of ammo as you can find too, since 22's can be picky as to what they will shoot well.

It doesn't necessarily have to be high priced to be accurate, and match ammo in a standard chanber won't always do better than typical commercial grades

Mine prefers Winchester Super X over many rounds costing a LOT more

And when you find ammo it likes, buy a bunch.

Don't spend a nickel until you've run 500 rounds through and learned how to shoot it.

Flyers are a personal problem, not the rifle.

I do know how to shoot it, and have ran over 1000 rounds through it already. I know flyers are a personal problem aswell, I called the shot that was a flyer.

+1 on the shoot as many different brands as possable. I fed one of my rimfires the best I could find localy and never got groups I was satisfied with untill I just for S&Gs bought a $.75 one pound bag " yes so cheap it wasnt even boxed" of un plated Federal Lightnings. I could'nt beleave my oun eyes, consistant raged holes at 50 yards.

If the rifle/ammo combination is capable of 1/2 inch at fifty yards and you called the flyer, you are on the right track. A better trigger always makes it easier to take advantage of the rifles accuracy.
