Question for Mossberg 500 owners
Have you ever ran into a situation where the gun won't extract a shell from the mag into the chamber ? Mine was working the last time I shot it and after sitting in the safe for a year I decided to take it out and it would not cycle. I can see the elevator thing working and if I manually push out on the arms holding the shells in the mag , the shell will spring out. I haven't pulled the thing apart yet, just wondering if any others have seen this issue.

Never had that issue but be careful when you take it all apart. Might be that they are frozen up from sitting. Break it all down and give it a real good cleaning. It took me a pretty long time to get mine back together. You have to get the arms to sit just right and then have the bolt in just the right spot to get the trigger back in correctly. Mine is around a 1988-1989 model.

sounds like you need to take it apart and make sure there is no junk clogging the rim retainer pieces(idk what they are called, the 2 things with the hooks on one end, on both sides of receiver)

Try brake cleaner and some light lube behind those arms, you might not even need to take anything apart.
They just might be a little rusty and crusty. They control the cartridges coming out of the magazine tube as the pump action goes back and forth. |

I'll give it a try.. but it really doesn't seem that dirty. Can't be anything major.
