Based solely on looks:
Best: Stainless, commander style 1911; I like the Luger p08 better than a stock GI 1911. Worst: Obviously the Hipoint .45, but - if we're talking about guns that at least tried to look good - it would be a draw between the Ruger p95 and the Khar TP45. Glocks/XD's/etc really don't bother me. They're not really noticeable enough to be attractive or ugly. The PPQ/P99 I actually find rather attractive in a function over form kind of way.

Worst: any rail gun. It looks like its awaiting a "fix bayonets" command
Best: SW1911 pro series, it looks like one of its grandparents was a Sig p210 |

I note I am unable to see the gun I am firing whilst firing, so I don't care.
At all.

I have to say nothing is more iconic and recognizable the world over as a 1911 platform..I have to go with that..
The following also are just drop dead sexy to me, in random order.. HK SOCOM 45 Broomhandle Mauser (The evolution can be seen in Han Solo's blaster) Walther PPK Artillery Luger... Ugly? Kel-Tec PR-30 has my current vote..
