S&W M28-2

I haven't been looking at revolvers in several years. The fact I have too many and prices I have been mostly working with my long range rifle stuff. Yesterday I walk into the LGS and see a M28 on the wall. The M28 is a missing number in my S&W collection so I look at it. First the $549 price seemed a bit on the high side but looking at other guns on the wall maybe not. So I see some holster wear, it's tight, trigger feels un-messed with. It's a dash 2 and a 6" barrel. The best part is it's wearing a early set of coke bottles in excellent condition.

With the prices I've been seeing on coke bottles the grips come with a free revolver

Well, if it's a true factory 5.5 inch barrel and can be proven as such, is definitely worth it.

I'm guessing it's a six incher though.

Wow, they've gone up a lot. I picked up my early 70's 6" for $350 about 8 years ago.

I love the gun though. I'd love to find another with a 4" barrel.

This one is a 6 inch Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman. I paid $300 cash on the barrel head for it. It has some finish wear, and a few dings from the original owner having to lay over his motorcycle, and it came out of the holster. The trigger is buttery smooth, it shoots like a dream. If the one you are looking at looks a lot better than this I would pick it up.

Measure the barrel from the front of the forcing cone by the cylinder. I made the mistake of thinking mine was a 5 inch. I am happy with it regardless. I have been shooting the snot out of this one.

Yep, 28s only came in 4 and 6 inch.

Your right, six inch. Don't know why I wrote 5.5". Dementia?

I popped the side plate to clean it. looked like factory grease. It was smooth before, better now. Shooting it today.
