Deer vs 458 Socom

Going deer hunting this year with RRA 458 Socom and was wondering if anyone out there in TFL land had already done this.

No but I do hunt with a 45-70 300gr and the 458 SOCOM is supposed to come close to that .You won't be disappointed !

I hunt with an 1885 hi wall in 45/70, that's one of the reasons I got the socom.

It was more the caliber than the weapon. I have six .458 caliber rifles and carbines. 45/60, 3- 45/70s, 458 socom, 45/90. I do love my hi-wall though

One time a fellow helped me drag out my deer. When he saw the hole he said "what are you using a cannon ?"

Not me personally, but a friend of mine got a 458 Socom a couple of years ago for deer hunting and has been very happy with it. I am trying to remember what manufacturer his is...I want to say Rock River, but don't quote me on that.
