ataching a removable stock to a single action revolver makes a SBR?

I have a BFR in 45-70 Govt/450 marlin. I have been thinking about making a removable stock for it. Would this be a SBR or not?

I think it would be a fun deer hunting gun!

all 26 of my guns are 45/70 govt, 357 mag, 22 or 12 ga... I believe in keeping it simple. Wish my wife did as well...

short answer

Yes, if you a attach a stock to a handgun it will become a SBR.

It doesn't matter if it is single action.

The only thing that would get you exempted from this is if the gun is black powder/muzzle loader or if it is a curio/relic gun that was originally designed to use a stock and is specifically expedited from NFA status.

For the C&R I believe the stock must also be original production. Some have reproductions around that are not easily discernible from originals and I believe burden of proof is on ATFE, but i wouldn't play that game if I were you.

Here is an angle on this: You have a BP stocked pistol. YOu take off the stock and add a conversion cylinder without the stock attached. Have you broken the law if the stock is in your possession? Can you then re-install the original BP cylinder and stock?

This is one of those interestingly stupid laws.
