Thats got to hurt! I bet finding ammo would be a pain in the butt. You probably wouldn't need too much though unless you were a glutton for punishment!

There Is Hope!
California deer hunters now have hope of dropping a deer. A 4 gauge slug ought to do it. Our hunters can trade in their Weatherby magnums and go all out. BALCO will have to come up with new formula.

Apparently, from what I've read elsewhere, the barrels are made by reboring 23mm rifled aircraft cannon barrels.

Other Stuff
Did anyone else stroll through the other things offered through the above referenced website? Anyone see the underwater gun? What about the missle launcher?

Yeah, TOZ makes a lot of really wierd stuff. There was an article in shotgun news a while back written by some guy who got to visit the TOZ factory and shoot a whole bunch of their stuff, including some of the 9x39mm guns and the "low disclosure" .30cal pistol.

4-gauge and even 2-gauge smoothbore guns used to be popular in Africa. They could be loaded with shot for waterfowl or slugs for (I kid you not) Elephant. The last report I heard of someone firing a 4-bore said "it spun me like a shuttlecock!" I believe a 4-bore slug weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 1800 grains but I could be mistaken.

IIRC the gauge is the number of lead balls that diameter that weigh a pound, so a 4 bore "ball" weighs 7,000/4=1,750 grains ... so a 4 bore slug HAS to weigh a bunch more than that Ouch!

Actually, most guns over 8 gauge are marked incorrectly, as in one size larger than they actually are. If this gun follows tradition, then it's actually more like a "5.5 gauge". Really, the bore could be anywhere from .918" to 1.052". Anyway, the point is that it's freakin' huge.

These also used to be mounted on a "duck boat" and called a "Punt Gun" too. 4 gauge and bigger that is.
