Winchester Model 1300
A neighbor of mine has one for sale in perfect condition, five stars. I'm thinking of offering him 200 for it and seeing what happens, but first I want to know what experience people may have with it. From what I understand, its just an updated version of Browning's M1200 design. How well does it function, though? Should I throw out the offer, or save my money for something newer?

Love my 1300
I love my 1300 Win. it is by far faster to work the slide than my 870 Rem. I think it's called the Speed Pump. It unlocks the slide when you pull the trigger. Only worry is, not as many toys around to mount on it as the 870 or 500 Mossy. Sounds like an OK deal to me ($200). What are you going use it for?

Probably skeet and maybe home defense as a last resort kind of thing.

I've got a 1300 shadow model and have no complaints about it! I have 100% faith that anything I put in the gun is going to work as expected, I often joke that I could put rocks in it and it would still fire em! Mine is just that reliable, I've killed a pile of deer and turkey with it too. Also with a magnum load it will eject the shell itself if you're not holding onto the fore grip too strong, kinda cool. Over all I have absolutely no complaints about mine!

1200
I hate to hijack the thread, is a $199 a good price for a Winchester 1200, seems to be in good condition.

I've bought several Winchester 1200s for under $150. A lot of Sears Mod 20 around made by Win, which are 1200s. Not worth as much as 1300s in my mind, but still a good gun.

I LOVE my 1300's! The wife and I started with a 20-gauge, and I decided to get a 12-gauge for myself. I've largely built it into a house gun, and now she wants her own 12-gauge 1300! I think I'm going to throw a youth stock on the 20-gauge so I can teach my son to shoot it. $200.00 sounds like the going rate for them in my area at any rate. If you like the gun, and it is as spotless as you say, I'd jump on it.

I've got a 1300 in 12 ga. It's been the gun each of my boys have gone to first as they move up from a 20 ga. Then at Christmas or birthday time they get their own first 12ga. That thing has paddled boats during duck season, shot AT thousands of clay pigeons without having a chance to cool down, and still killed more ducks than any other gun I own. When one of the boys bring a freind along on a hunt, they typically use that ol 1300. That gun has also taken more first{ insert species here} than any other gun I own. Real good gun and it's stood the test of time and abuse. 200 bucks? Heck ya!!!!

BUY IT!!! Great gun. I have the 1300 Defender Speed Pump. You can't go wrong with it. If you buy it and don't like it, put it up for sale or trade on here.
