Give me your thoughts on these grips....
I have a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in stainless, .357, and I love it, some of you may recall my post on how this particular gun was my father's and an early life intro to the fun of shooting. The wood factory grips though, over time (26 yrs), have become dull and not as nicely aged as the remainder of the weapon. I was thinking of replacing the grips with something fun. Tell me what you think. They are pewter grips from Ajax. I have attached a picture, reduce the size if needed for a clear image. I know it's about personal taste, but I thought I would throw it out here for comments.
Thanks. |

They look 'cold'.
They would look pretty cool on a SS gun, though.

SanDiegan,
From personal experience I can tell you that they balance well on a Ruger single action. I had a .357 Blackhawk in 7 1/2" that wears a pair of pewter grips. I say "had" because my father has "inherited" it, which is wrong, I am supposed to "inherit" his guns. But hey, I will get it back, at least that is what I tell him. They look good on stainless, I wish you luck. Buy them and enjoy. .44mag |

Pass. They are strictly for looks. I tried a couple of pairs. They don't fit well and bite you when shooting. I finally found a set of matched Corian countertop grips for my Vaqueros. Look in the gun rags for them, handcarved wood grips or www.eaglegrips.com

I have had two sets of ajax grips, and neither of them fit the gun properly, they were very poor quality, very poor fit. Both were for a S&W 686 which is a K/L frame grip size (K&L are the same and S&W has been making them the same for 50 years now)
I would never buy an ajax grip or recommend one to anyone else. |

They look pretty cool but seems they would be cold and not sure how comfortable.
