Short barrel shot gun under 300.00?

I am familiar with the Mossberg 500 series but was wondering if there are any other choices with a used or new to be had for under 300.00. Looking at hoe defense type shotgun. Very basic CQC application.

The H&R Pardner Pump (870 Clone) is around $200.00 new and is an incredible value. It is made in China and factory service is provided by Remington. Here are 10 reviews from Police Link web site 5/5 star ratings

Mine was rock solid and built like a tank.

You can definitely get a used Remington 870 Express for that kind of money and may be able to get a new one for close to $300 with the current factory rebate. Mossberg isn't a bad choice, either. Both have loads of accessories, including interchangeable barrels. I would stay away from clones. If you consider getting one, look into just how easy it is to get barrels and other accessories or parts.

I'm with KlawMan. I have an 870 and 500 both are awesome guns and probably get a new or used one close to your price

Yeah, you can't go too wrong with the 500 or 870. The Maverick 88 can be bought with a short barrel for about $200, and barrels and stocks (I think) are interchangeable with 500's.

I usually don't think about the Maverick 88, but that is a good option thought I would prefer the 870 or the 500. Actually, I prefer the 870,l but that may be just because I have one and don't throw stones at Mossbergs.

Dicks just recently had the maverick 88's on sale for $179 in both 18.5" and longer field barrel configurations

I'll +1 to the Pardner Pump if you're looking to stay cheap with the $$$. Mine has been perfect despite the abuse I've put it through. It's not particularly pretty, but it's tough and reliable.
