Spacer Ring

Hey
Maybe some one can tell me why a spacer ring is used when reloading magnum brass? I have the RCBS Carbide Dies. I resized 50, 44mag. brass without the spacer ring.
I took the sizer die out and placed the spacer ring on,then I resized the brass with the spacer ring on.
What should I do with the brass ?Should I go on and load them up?

The spacer ring is the thickness of the difference between Special and Magnum brass, 0.135" for .38-.357, 0.125" for .44 Spl - Mag.; and is used so you don't have to fiddle with the lockring to change the expander and seating dies. (Assuming you load the same bullet for both.) The sizer does not need the spacer and it does not need to be run through twice. Load 'em up.
(Was this not in the die instructions?)

Not meant to be a smart a$$ remark, but why don't people bother to read the directions that come with the dies?

Some of us FOF's (frugal old farts) have occasionally bought some dies at garage sales. The instructions were probably stored with the warranty cards for the last 6 toasters the former owner bought.
