Cast bullet, 308 using unique...
I cast some 170 gr (came out 178 gr) bullets for use in 7.62. The only powder I have on hand that is listed in my Lyman book is Unique. At 10 gr, suggested starting load, will the round ignite reliably? if not, is there anything I can do to help without increasing the pressure? I am making these for a Chilean Mauser and I am concerned about keeping the pressure as low as possible.

Unique and a standard primer have been igniting reliably in rifle cases since Unique was first sold to the public...
It is not a hard powder to ignite... |

I use loads as low as 8 gns of unique in my 7.62/ 308 calibers with standard primers and not once have I had a failure, 10gns of unique is considered ( by some) the "standard" for light, plinking , fun shooting , I tend to agree.
Have fun..
