Cerakoted CZ 75 B

Does anyone know anything about this CZ 75 B for sale right now? Did it come from CZ with the cerakote finish as a distributor exclusive for CAI, was it an aftermarket job?

If it's an early 75B there's no way CZ applied the finish; I'm not sure that Cerakote was around, back then.

That said, I've never seen ANY CZ with any factory finish other than polycoat, nickel, or high gloss blue -- or made from the newer stainless. They do offer matte black slides on some models.

The author doesn't claim it's a NEW gun, and says it has "newer" soft-rubber grips (which I think are beter than Hogues). If it is an early pre-B, the polycoat finish, the prior owner probably refinished it. The finish on the early transitional anb B models was kind of fragile; nowadays the finish is very durable -- it has been improved a lot over the years.

I've owned a bunch of CZs over the years, including some early pre-Bs, and this is the first CZ-75B I've seen that is marked "CZECH MADE" -- the one's I've owned all said they were made in CZECHOSLOVAKIA or the CZECH REPUBLIC. That's interesting.

The seller can tell you the year it was made, as the date is stamped in the small oval near the ejection port. (Serial numbers don't tell much about age.)

(RE: CAI using CZ's serial numbers rather than their own... I think most importers just add their IMPORTER'S mark and use the existing serial numbers. That it's a CAI gun suggests that it might be one of many Israeli surplus weapons they've been selling over the past year or two, but refinished somewhere along the line.)

The gun has been refinished, and the front sight has been replaced. I'd consider it somebody's project gun, and any offer I made would reflect that.

My guess is that the seller refinished the gun for resale. All of his guns for sale have been Ceracoated.

Walt I think the gouges he is refering to are the take down marks on the frame and slide.

That's definitely not a factory CZ finish. My guess is it showed some rough carry wear and it was dolled up to bring a better price.
