Denny Hansen - About your rifles in the fire
While looking at the pics printed in SWAT of your weapons that have been through the fire, I noticed two AR15 carbines, one Bushmaster and one Olympic Arms that were all burnt up with a magazine loaded in each rifle.
I never heard of people storing rifles with magazines always inserted and was just wondering is this just a practice of yours to have the rifle that much more ready for use or is there some other reason behind it. BTW "Mad Dog" did some superb work on your firearms. |

DD-
I usually keep a magazine in all of my firearms. Loaded or unloaded depends on the firearm. Helps keep dust and little critters from crawling inside. Denny

Generaly keep mine with an empty mag inserted. If I get a "lets go to the range" call I have a bad habit of remembering the ammo, but forgeting the mags. This way I have at least one mag with me.

Speaking of your guns in the fire, why was the guy so mad about your "guns after the fire" article in SWAT (most recent issue in Letters to Editor)?
I thought it was an exceptional idea for an article that I had not seen before. Well, if it was G&A, it would be "which gun for fire?"

KS-
1) Who knows; folks have different "hot buttons" I reckon. 2) Thanks. We thought it was a little different and may be interesting. Denny

Denny,
I want to add my kudos to you for handling that first letter in S.W.A.T. with such ablomb. I couldn't believe that someone would get so bent out of shape about what I considered an incredibly interesting article that he would take the time to write a letter about it. It takes all kinds, I guess. Maybe he'd have preferred you to tackle the 9mm vs. .45 debate instead... -Dave
