Choke/barrel thread cleaning

I purchased a new Browning Citori XT trap with removable choke tubes. Should I remove the chokes and clean the threads of the bbl. EVERY time I clean the shotgun? I shoot about 50 ~ 75 rounds (trap) weekly and clean it promptly after shooting. I also use an aluminum based anti-sieze. I'd hate to freeze the chokes in place, but it seems that I'm "over cleaning" as the chokes/barrels are never dirty.

The simple answer to your question is YES! And apply anti-seize lube to the threads before reinserting.

I agree too. I clean my tubes and the threads in the barrel everytime I clean. It only takes a minute with a toothbrush ( I prefer to use an old one,not my everyday one) and some solvent. Small price to pay to know they will always come out easily.

yea, if you're cleaning after every range trip anyway it shouldn't take to long to just brush over the tube and relube the threads.

i advise against wasting a seperate toothbrush though, at $2.56 a good toothbrush can't just be tossed away, not to mention that hoppes gets your teeth whiter than anything that has a minty taste to it. puts hair on your chest too.

i would definitely clean and lube the threads, and the easiest way to clean em is WITH A TOOTHBRUST. i don't have to worry bout that. i don't really believe in screw-on chokes. full choke is the best i've used, so why not get the best as part of the gun? that's just my opinion.
