For speed goats:

Winchester Model 70 Supergrade, .270 Win, Weaver Grand Slam 3x10, 110 gr VMax and 140 grain Ballistic Tips.

Browning Model 1885, .30-06.........scope and ammo still to be determined.

Ruger Hawkeye, .358 Winchester, Leopold Rifleman 3x9, 250 grain Speer Hotcor

For Elk (if I buy a tag):

Same rifle as above, but with a Marlin 336 .30-30, and a 1946 M44 for additional backups/brush guns.

most of what I hut is coyote, hog and deer. I mainly use my m1A .308 but will take my 1903 30-06 just in case I need the heavier loads and longer reach.

I only deer hunt. I use a custom .54 Hawken for most of it but I also use a custom 98 Mauser for long range hunts. I also sometimes carry a Winchester 30-30, Rossi 92 in 44-40 and a .58 three band Enfield. The Mauser is the only one scoped.

For whitetail deer. One of the Model 700 XCR's in 30.06 or 7 MM MAG. Since deer camp is a ways from home I generally take both of them and that way I have a back up rifle just in case there is a problem with a scope. Both rifles are great proven deer slayers. Heck I might even get a notion and get the Browning Bar Safari in 30.06 out of the safe and let it stretch its legs.

Due to arthritis in my hip making it next to impossible to still hunt deer anymore, I will be hunting from a blind on my own property. It is very heavily wooded, and shots more than thirty yards away are very rare.

For this type of hunting I may skip using my Remington 7400 30-06, or my Ruger Mini-30 this year, in favor of my new S&W 329PD.

Winchester model 70 .270 wsm for hogs in Texas and deer in Kansas. Just got it in the spring, can't wait for a crisp fall day.

Wife gets ****** when I would take her Savage 110 .270. That thing is a meat getter.

I just took my Winchester 94 .30-30 to the range and had no problem at all dropping the bullets into a 4" circle at 100 yards. Iron sights, cast bullet load.

I've got one little white oak flat on my property that's about 70 yards across and I think I know just the rifle for it.

I know there are better choices. This is what I have plus am using this yr though. In a yr or two I can iron out some details. I also carry a very large fixed blade I bought in Ochopee, FL(near Everglades City) in DEC2010. I LOVE THE KNIFE: GATOR HANDLE AND ALLIGATOR SHEATH).

It is a rare one for sure. I've seen one in .284 Win, that one might be the true "Holy Grail" of 99's. I think the .300 and .358 are the front runners this year for my combo deer and elk hunt.

My .25-06 is an option for sure, at 11 lbs it is just a little heavy. I've already killed a doe after a long stalk, just that my shooting wasn't the best that day. First shot was high because I miss judged the range. It took two more shots on a running wounded animal to finish her off. That is why I need to redeem myself for that one.

We're evacuees from the Conchas fire right now. I'm wondering where my dad will hunt. Luckily, I put in for 6A, so I should have some land left to hunt. I'm probably going to take the .45-70 again.

I'll be hunting Deer and Elk. I will carry my 1895G with 400 gr LFP's, but if I can get close enough I want to take it with my mdl 83 454 and it will have 325 gr gc boolit in it. I've never taken a big game animal with a handgun before and think it will be sweet.

For Deer and Hog im using a Ruger Frontier .308 with a shimmed butstock and a Leaupold VX 2 3X9X40 over the reciever. And for Racoon that I tree with My Coonhounds I use a stainless Ruger Single Six with a 6 inch barrel.

For Deer I will be carrying my 1894 Winchester .30-30 and if I go elk hunting this year, it'll be my .30-06 M70 Winchester. It's not that I'm really into Winchesters it's that for where I hunt, these are the 2 best rifles I have...

Decided something different this year. Our rifle season Co is pretty short 5day elk up to 9 days on a combo (deer/elk) tag and our archery season starts last weekend in Aug end last weekend Sept so that a good 30day season.

I drew an archery deer tag and another couple weeks I'll start scouting see what up in the high country might check out the elk. I can get an OTC either sex archery elk tag and I got the entire archery season free and grouse season starts Sept 1 so have afew choices.

I got second choice rifle doe antelope tag and I drew rifle late season cow elk. Just not sure what I'm going to do for my bull tag yet.

Rifles, Had a 284 build last year use that for antelope back up rifle 243AI and the ranch I hunt on has afew PD so take along 223AI,22Br.

I've got a rifle just for cow elk it's a Shilen ratchet twist barrel 30-06 using a 150gr E-Tip if there in the timber I'll take the 35 Whelen AI along.
