Stoppin' power

In a recent argument with a relative, the effective stopping power of a .223 and a .45 acp were debated. .223- appox. 55gr spitzer ballistic tip @ 3500fps vs. .45- 200 gr. JHP @ 800 fps. Range is close combat. In essence would you prefer bieng shot by a 45 or an ar15 if you wished to return fire. Please choose the lesser of two evils.

You're kidding right?

the .223 is more deadly by an amazingly wide margin if it has a frangible bullet and both shots (.223 and .45) are to center of mass. How can anyone debate the otherside?

Each has their place, but this is not a very fair competition.

Anyone with much sense would prefer not to be shot, period.

This forum is for Training and Tactics, not fantasy.
