They are all tested from where they came from. Even firearms.

I bought a used Highway Patrol P226 about 4 years ago. I love the gun. Wish I had another. My only complaint is the double action trigger, I prefer single action only and the single action P226 is kinda sorta expensive.

The P226 is in my opinion the duty sidearm par excellence. Except for the grips...and the 'reachy' trigger, which another post mentioned. Solved both issues with a "short trigger" and the E2 grips both of which I installed myself.

I really like the P226. Own 2 models
Double Action Only, not newer DAK and Single Action Only Wonderful pistols, 9mm or .40S&W. Any variant, all just really nice. Buying used gets you the best deal, nothing wrong here as they run for a long time.Just change out the springs if you do not know riund count and lubricate well. But sometimes, you just need to have that one Brand Spanking New guN smell. Have both and will always be on the look out for a nice used West German model. Very nice guns, I have a P226 in .40 in the cabinet myself. www.summitgunbroker.com is a Sig dealer and consistently has great prices on used Sigs, but has all the new stuff if you are so inclined. The P226 I have came from him, as well as a few other guns I've purchased from his very competitive pricelist in the past. They are fantastic guns if you're into Double Action pistols (I'm not crazy about them myself, I'm into SAO) and extremely accurate. I can chase holes with the irons with ease. I have a Mosquito as a companion and the trigger is awful, much unlike the P226 which I think has a very nice trigger that almost feels like a short two stage in single action.

My SIGs are my go-to guns. I have two MK25s and a regular P226 with night sights. My MK25s are fantastic. I don't have large hands by any stretch but I have no problem with any of my SIGs. My 226 is my EDC. I trust my life to them.

Sig P226 can be had used cheap if you shop around. I saw a P229 used at CDNN for $550.

You know, I've been on a big HK kick for the past few months. I had a new custom kydex holster made for my MK25 so I took it to the range togay and put 150 rounds through it.
Man, I love this gun. This is an older picture when it was pristine. It's actually getting some use now. I'm gonna spend a little time with this new holster and then I'll post some pics and a review. I'm liking those new desert MK25s too. Good looking guns. The ONLY 'downside' to the MK25 is the non-standard rail, making holster selection significantly less than with the standard 226. However, I have this new custom kydex OWB pancake holster in coyote brown, and a Comp-Tac Infidel IWB and I'm all set for holsters with this gun. Of course, I also installed the SRT into mine. I don't necessarily consider that a 'downside' of the gun though. Just an available upgrade/option.

Early Naval Special Warfare serial number with no rail. U.S. Navy SEAL teams started using the SIG P226 in the 1980s. The first Naval Special Warfare inspired P226 pistols to be offered to the public were the NSW Commemoratives, issued in early 2004. The SIG P226-9-NAVY is a version of the SIG P226 that is produced that features a stainless steel slide engraved with an anchor to designate them as Naval Special Warfare pistols. SIGARMS raised $100,000 for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation through the sale of these NSW serialized pistols. The pistol bearing serial number NSW0001 was sold during a live auction on the nationally syndicated Laura Ingraham radio show for an additional $25,000. Later produced commercial versions added a universal rail for accessory attachments while retaining the anchor of previous models, but do not have the SIGLITE Night Sights.[6] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIG_Sauer_P226 |

Thanks man. Here's a picture of my gun and new holster. My kydex maker also made another one with the light for someone else. Mine is the one with no light.
JC Custom Kydex in the northwest Phoenix valley. He's actually right in my neighborhood - didn't know that when I contacted him. Great work. He also did a holster for my USP 45 Tactical. I'll share that one too once I get some more time with it.

I have a Benchmade 375 Adamas Paracord handle wrapped whose scabbard looks like it would bolt straight onto that Kydex holster for a cool looking pistol and knife double rig.

Nice shooting. Gotta fix your grip so you stock hovering on the slide stop though.

I've already posted my long ode to sig p226 here. In short, I agree that this is an OUTSTANDING pistol! In my book, p226 might be THE best semi-auto pistol out there.
