Powder for 40S&W
What is the best powder for the 40 S&W with lead bullets (140 to 165 grs in weight)?
Thanks, Mark |

our powder of 40
We use WST in our loads. All we shoot is lead. Either 170gr SWC or 180gr RN.

Two powders that I have had luck with in .40 are WSF (Winchester Super Field) and Unique (flammable dirt). I think that WSF has the accuracy edge, at least in my gun.

AA#5 or WST.
WST works exceptionally well with reduced loads for competition loads.

I've tried both WST & WSF but stuck with WSF. In the Winchester manual WSF gives the same or better velocity with lower pressure.
