Help identify old rifle
I came across a remington&remington .22 cal rifle model 766 "Pioneer". Bolt action single shot. Anyone who has seen or heard of this rifle please help me. If there is a website that will help please let me know by email at [email protected]. Thnx in advance dcopper

dcopper, I believe the rifle you're describing is actually a Harrington & Richardson Model 766 Pioneer. The was a single-shot .22 caliber bolt-action rifle with a nickel finish made from 1949-1950. A picture of one can be seen at the link below.

Remington did make a .22 caliber Pioneer rifle. There are very few references to it so it must be a low number production item and obscure. That does not make it any more valuable , first there must be a demand for it. The 750 Pioneer and 765 Pioneer are listed in the " Rifles of the World " by John Walter. In production 1948 until 1954. The 766? well there is no reason that Remington couldn't make a minor change to the 765, such as different sights and Voila, the 766, common practice.
