Looking for info on Remington .25cal rimfire

A friend at work has a rifle he says is a Remington .25 cal. He brought in a round and it looks like a .22 mag. on steroids. He says the action is like a rolling block but not. I can't get him to get any numbers from it he's too busy or something, but now I'm curious. he says it shoots well and has a few boxxes of ammo for it.
Hope you can help,
Thanks JS

There were a number of .25 cal. rimfire rounds from about 1870 onwards.

Most, if not all, didn't survive the great ammo purge that came as American ammo companies ramped up for WW I production.

Most likely the 25 Stevens which was in production from 1900- 1940.Remington did make rifles for this cartridge. It has been replaced by the 22 magnum.
