Looking for .223 bullets
Does anyone have a recomendation for a source of .223 bullets? I am looking for 55 gr. FMJBT. Could also use "pull-downs" from military 5.56 if they aren't chewed up.

22 bullets
Midway USA has a sale going now on some bullets. They'r re getting $28.49 for 500 count Win fmjbt or 1000 count for $54.99 or 2000 count for $101.99. Hard to beat those prices in my area. Good luck

I got some from hi tech ammo in the above link. I got the pulled 55 and 62 gr (the latter is steel core). They have score marks and don't seem perfectly round in cross section they state that they were resized. I would get the factory new ones for a little bit more in price. It was pointed out to me that in the resizing process that the jacket may come loose from the core by another reloader, I have not considered that, I don't know if it is a problem or not. I just shoot them out of a Kel Tec SU 16 C and they seem okay for plinking, not trying for accuracy.

for what its worth
I usually order remington fmj from midway, or anyone that has them cheap; i have used winchester, but couldn't get the accuracy I wanted.
also: I have read of reloads blowing up in the AR type rifle; the remington wal mart ammo is cheap, so thats whta i use now, and just let the once fired brass collect and trade it off when i get enuff. |

Daniel, you can read of anything blowing up in any firearm. I shoot only my reloads through my Bushy Shorty. Several thousand rounds and no catastrophes yet. My favorite bulk 55gr fmjbt is the IMI; used to get it at Widners for just over $40, delivered. Can't seem to find it anywhere now.

I just bought 1000 Win 55 grain fmjbt from midway.
What powder and charge weight are you guys using for these bullets? The only powder I had on hand the other day was Reloader-15, and my first try with 24 grains wasn't all that great. I did buy some Win. 748, but have not had the chance to try it yet. |

I've never been able to get Win bulk fmj's to shoot better than 2-3" @ 100 yds., regardless of powder and load. Good luck. I'm using AA2200.
