question about bullet seating die
i use an RCBS competition bullet seating die for 22-250. i am using an extended shell holder that came with the die.
here's my question. is it ok to set this die up so that the top of the ram touches the bottom of the die? the extended shell holder goes up through the die so the flat top of the ram touches the flat bottom of the seating die. this method seems to me to be more exact when seating bullets as opposed to letting the press go through it's whole motion and not stopping at a definite point. when i seat bullets i do everything very slow so i am not slamming the ram up to the bottom of the die, just touching it. |

Why not call RCBS and ask them? They have a help line and they made the die, anyone here will just give a opinion as how to operate the die.

You shouldn't need an extended shell holder.

using an extended shell holder makes one less part that is between the ram and the die. whether i use an extended shell holder or not doesn't matter. does the ram touching the bottom of the die cause any problems is the question i have.
