Oregon Residents, it happened

What do you think of this? The first person with a CCW in the state to do what the stereotypical anti's say will "run through the streets":

And from the University paper on the incident. I don't agree with some of her remarks but this is rare for the college:

*mods/admins, can I copy and paste so that we have the text or just leave as is? Thanks

What do I think? Drinking and guns do not mix, period.....

He should lose his CCW and be prosecuted for assault.

Molonlabe,

I agree. But that is just the personal (to him) effect. What I'm trying to ask, what is going to be the state wide effect? The anti's in Oregon, especially ginny burdick, have been looking for any excuse to restrict Oregon's shall issue laws and their laws that don't have allot of restrictions on where you can and can't carry.

This is the purpose of this post. Not to discuss the actions of this idiot, we will all agree with your comments, but what affects those actions will cause since he does have a CCW, and this is the first instance of such a case.

I agree with molonlabe. Even though the law doesn't state it I believe carrying while drinking is stupid. Say you make it home without incident. You still have to remove the gun from your person which can lead to shooting yourself because you mis-judged finger placement.

Man was he stupid.

I see, but you didn't state that.
Well throw this at them. Maybe they will want to disarm us all.
http://www.gazette.net/stories/09140...45_31896.shtml

The point is these things will happen from time to time. When A child drowns in a bucket we don't ban buckets of if someone falls in a bathtub we don't ban bathtubs. I can give a hundred other examples.

Targeting only guns is obviously agenda driven and we need to hammer that fact home again and again with examples. Including the number of times CCW saves lives.
Hammer them over and over like that hammer the media with their mis-information.

Have fun getting the media to change their tune...

What we need is something like an advertisement or public endorsement by the NRA saying that gun owners will not stand for criminals or people who use their firearms irresponsibly. Should defitently get the nation to realize that safe and responsible gun owners will not stand for this man's idiocy.
