1910 mauser pistol

Just bought a 1910 mauser pistol. It has no serial number. It dosen't look like the numbers were ground off. was this common?

I don't think the M1910 was ever made without S/N's.

The serial number should appear in at least two places:

1. On back of frame, directly below the cocking indicator
2. On the left side of the slide, below the front sight.

If it's missing in both places, I think someone removed it.
