Gots ta get out for deer, think my neck may be start'in to swell a bit.
Have a couple white tail tags for up here in the better part of Ideeeeho, and filled my elk tag with a big barren cow on Aug. 1st, 7:10am. Got right on the net and finally phone and back to the net to try and fill out my manditory harvest report and the game dept. wasn't even set up to take 2011 harvest info. Took them a couple days to get with it. Guess they didn't figure anyone was going to have something that early the first day. 45/70 with a 465 gr Cast Boolit is totaly AWESOME! Keep em coming! Crusty,
My dad was usually the first one to fire a shot on opening morning of a hunt. Many times, the sun wasn't even up yet, and he had a critter down. Enjoy the steaks! Daryl |

ugh...it's threads like this that make me regret "accelerating my life". I've missed 3 of those awesome idaho hunting seasons and the one I did make shouldn't count because I spent all my leave time helping my little brother get his first deer. mission accomplished there...still miss it though

Haven't gotten into the 2011 elk yet.
The friend that helped me get it into his cooler - rush job when the day time temps are in the 80 - 90s ! - has eaten some and says it's really good. I did have backstrap for lunch today, from a 2009 deer. I'm really the pits to wrap meat with - wife is used to it - as I insist it be wrapped really tight!!!!!!!!!!!!! One wrap in plastic wrap and a second in butcher paper. Wrapped well the meat last 2 years with no problem or freezer burn. With two deer tags this year, and half an elk, it will allow me to make some sausage and jerky. Game meat is almost the only red meat we eat, so having extra this year lets me do up some of the extras. YUMMY! Keep em coming! Crusty Deary Ol'Coot |
