Looks like I just bought a new press

It is a Hornady Pro-jector pro 7

It is missing a few parts but it looks like I can get them from Hornady. Any one have this press and have any advise? This is my first progressive.

I believe the Projector is the forerunner to the Lock and Load press. It does not have the LNL quick release bushings. Also, the Projector primer system was supposed to be a real shortcoming. Lots of people still using them though.

I have used the bushings once before. I helped a friend get set up and going on his LNL single stage and I like the idea for a single stage but I think they left a little to be desired.

I think all progressives are the same in that they all have little problems that you have to deal with. Its just a matter of which ones you want to deal with. I don't mind sitting on the couch and running a hand primmer.

I have a projector and I like it a lot. I am still getting used to it but I like it. I like how I can load a lot of ammo quick. I just need to get the indexing down just right but works pretty well so far. I have no issues with the priming system. It was set up for large magnum primers when I bought it used and I switched it over to the small primer size for my .223 loads and have not had any issues except for the first issue where the primer tube spring was to loose and let the primers fall out after one install. Pretty dangerous but got them all back in and adjusted the spring and have not had any issues in over 200 rounds.

So I got all the parts in. I got the Hornady case activated powder drop and the large primer cup. I got every thing set up and running. So far I have loaded over 200 rounds of ammo and it has been great. I have learned that when the primers get down to the last two it will not want to drop them. I had two rounds without primers. But I am going slow and figured out that it feels very different when it does not seat the primer.

Over all I am very happy with it. My next purchase will be a powder cop die. I am not sure if I am going to try to load my 308 on it but I know that my friend will load his 223 on it.
