Two out of every three times that I take my P229/.357 to the range, I take the SIG .40 S&W bbl. along and put at least 100 rds. thru it as well.
I like both but favor the .357 SIG version. 1350 fps out of a 4" bbl. for the 125 gr. GDHP isn't bad.

I would get the 357. You already have 9mm, why not get something different. 357 is a great round to shoot and very unique. I personally really enjoy it. I think the ballistics would be effective enough for your uses. I prefer my 229 in 357 over 9mm. I have a natural 40 and shoot all 3 calibers

I have five 9mm's and would get another. It makes keeping track of ammo much easier. Reloading is also simplified as well. Working up a load can be tested in all five guns in one session. I had thought of adding different auto loading pistol calibers at one time, but it was a short thought, like most of my others

9 unless you think the 357 is really cool and that cool factor is worth the extra cost.

I would opt for the 9mm. I have shot mine thousands of times and it just runs and runs and runs. Trigger is pretty good. I put a Crimson Trace on that gun as well as my P220 and 5906. Works like a champ. Those guns have not been worked on at all.
I still prefer a 1911 style but I shoot the Sigs a lot.
