Colt trooper repair
I need to get a new ratchet for my colt trooper (the original trooper). My local gunsmith said that the ratchet is not sold as a separate part, and that I should send it to Colt to get it replaced. How good / responsive is Colt's repair service? Is there another "Colt specialist" that could do the work?
thanks in advance C |

Colt is VERY good, and no one knows more about it then they do.
Also, they have brand new parts on hand. Another good repair service is: Pittsburgh Handgun Headquarters 1330 Center Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15229 (412) 766-6100 Pittsburgh used to be a prime Colt authorized warranty repair station and still have parts. First choice: Colt. |

Your gunsmith is correct. The original Colt ratchet was screwed onto the ejector rod, but about the time the Trooper came out they changed and made the ratchet/extractor in one piece with the stem. Now they sell that part only with the cylinder, so the cost is quite high.
